All About Me
By: Thomas Ross

Hello I'm Thomas Ross, a student at SPSU. I am making this webpage for the CS1002 course, and for whatever reason just can't make a good layout so I'm going the plain "bread-n-butter" route. My current major is Computer Science, as I have always loved computers. I hope to be a programmer one day, and even though it's hard work, it's very rewarding. After college I plan to simply get as good at programming as I can. Its not ever possible to know it all, and you can always improve. Hopefully I can eventually land a job at one of the larger entertainment companies making video or computer games. My dream job when I retire would be the head of a group of programmers reknowned for many popular productions.

Since I have to put a quote about the the CS1002 course...
So far it is a little boring, but that is understandable. Its hard to make a class where some students know far too much about computers, and others know almost nothing. Not to mention it has to cover a suitable amount of material, so there isn't enough time to go indepth on every subject. However, the teacher is comical enough to keep me from falling asleep, and it never hurts to get a reminder on certain things. -Me

Degrees Offered at SPSU

Computer Science

The computer science degree focuses on all aspects of the computer. From design to programming, it touches base on all fields. This means it shares atleast something with all the other degrees, but lacks as specific of a focus.

Information Technology:

According to this page, information technology "prepares students for a career involving the strategy, development, and administration of integrated computing, network and web systems." This definition is excelent because it shows that a focus is given to the strategies used in the IT field.

Software Engineering:

Software engineering is defined here as a degree designed "to prepare software practitioners focused on the engineering of software systems, that is, those systems that meet specified requirements, that are built with industrial quality standards, and that are within cost and schedule requirements." This is a great definition of Software engineering because it shows that industry standards are taken into account with this program; which is an aspect shared by Information Technology especially.
