ABOUT ME // PHOTOGRAPHY

CHRIS-SCHRIER://
Welcome to CHRIS's Photography and Blog.  This site was designed by Chris Schrier as part of a Computer Science 1002 Class.  This was designed in Win32Pad, EditPad, and Taco (Mac). I am referring to this site as a blog because it contains a lot of information about me and my hobbies, although it is not a log of day to day events. I have also written Essays on Various Types of Computer Viruses and Content Filtering and Logging for my CS Project Part B and C.

You can find a small Java Script Time Converter that I wrote for CS Project Part D and assignment 4.

ABOUT ME://
I am nineteen years old and I currently work for Titan Corporation. I am a junior systems engineer and I am responsible for maintaining many websites, servers, antivirus, and imaging projects for Cobb County School District (Titan Resume).  I worked for Cobb County School District for nearly two years before they were outsourced by Titan (CCSD Resume). Shortly after Titan took over I was hired into my current position and I have been working for Titan for almost a year now. It is planned that I will continue working for Titan throughout and after I graduate college. I have been into computers and technology for nearly eight years now and I am currently attending SPSU for my BSIT (Information Technology).

I am currently in my career and company that I should still be with when I graduate college. My job is very flexible and insists that I complete college.  My school is fully paid by Titan and the Hope Scholarship as long as I manage my GPA.   I hope to continue doing top level technology support and design for my career and possibly look into Photography as a part time job when I retire.

I also have several interests which I have listed below:

  • Photography
  •   [Digital Preview] [DeviantArt]
  • Computers
  •   [Hard OCP] [Tom's Hardware]
  • Web Development
  •   [EnragedNET] [CCSD WebSupport]
  • Internet News
  •   [Slashdot] [The Register]

    ABOUT SPSU://
I am currently enrolled in Intro to Computing Disciplines which seems to be a fairly simple class so far. I am reviewing the fundamental skills that I use on an almost daily basis while being presented some new terms and acronyms. Southern Poly offers thee major fields of Computing and Software Engineering:

    Computer Science:
Study of the theory, experimentation, and engineering that form the basis for the design and use of computers—devices that automatically process information. [MSN Encarta]

    Information Technology:
Applied computer systems - both hardware and software, and often including networking and telecommunications, usually in the context of a business or other enterprise. [Dictionary.com]

    Software Engineering:
the application of mathematics and technology to the design, implementation, and testing of computer programs to optimize their production and support [MSN Encarta]

Each of the above fields share the fact that they relate to computers and technology but there are several differences. Computer Science deals with the aspects of computer design in a physical sense while Software Engineering prepares students for creating the applications and design in an abstract way. Both of these degrees require the student to be very familiar and comfortable with operating systems and software. Information Technology takes pieces of Computer Science and Software Engineering in order to give a student a well rounded understanding of technology to help them in a support, implementation, and management based workplace.
